Yay! After months of labour, my edible garden is finally bearing fruits! I’ve planted some spring onions, chives, thyme, basil and uhhh, broccoli. Not all of them can be harvested though. Some are just too small and doesn’t seem to be growing but what the heck, at least half of them are fruitful, which means I have like, 50% success!

These spring onions are nifty. Pluck a few stalks, chop them up and mix into anything. Soup, rice, porridge noodle or cat food. Thanks to my sister who gave me the idea of planting small onion bulbs into soil when I lamented that spring onions are costly. Love that girl.

See those mini lalangs and small shoots around the spring onions? Those are the chives and thymes. Doesn’t seem to get any bigger.

I actually cheated with this plant. Bought a small pot of it from Tesco, which set me back around RM3.50. The plant look so sad and sickly when I brought it home that it was on the verge of wilting away. Fortunately, re-potting, plenty of sunshine and water revived it. As of now I could plan on my basil based recipes already!

Cili padis! Yep! I’ve got like, 4 pots of it. Tall, lanky and hardy, all four plants originated from one packet of seed. I only need one pot of it, but since all of them grew beautifully and are already bearing fruit, I don’t have the heart to uproot them and chuck them aside. According to the gardening websites, I should prune them because lanky chilli plants just aren’t so fruitful. But they do have fruit! I guess the pruning will have to wait until I finished eating whatever chillis sprouted from the top of it.
