I’ve been reminded by my webhost to renew my subscription and that put me into considering whether I should continue blogging or not. Figuring that it doesn’t cost so much, plus I still like writing anyway, I am gonna renew the domain and hosting. Here’s to another year of (hopefully) fruitful blogging.
Its only a few days after ushering into twenty-ten, so allow me to recap the year of 2009 before moving forward to the new year.
Fresh and painfully recent, my family lost my paternal grandmother last month. By grace of God, all her kith and kin was present to say the final goodbyes before her passing, and she passed on peacefully. She will always be lovingly remembered by those near and dear. May she rest in peace.
Death, in all its certainty, always evokes emotions, and serves as a reminder for the living to cherish for the people they love and to live life the fullest. No amount of monetary richness can be brought to the afterlife, and what’s left behind is the legacy of living and memories.
Christmas and New Year is a sombre affair this year.
Aside from that, 2009 was the year I made a huge decision to quit my job as a factory minion in Malacca and move up to Selangor. I certainly did not see it coming because I don’t quite like traffic jam and urban stressful living. I am happy to say that I fitted pretty well in the new working environment and living with my aunt. I also had to give up my cat for adoption, but thankfully my cousin stepped up to take him in, and J and I could still drop by and visit the cat whenever we want. We also have to bathe the cat because not everyone could bathe a cat. LOL!
I also switched my job from being a factory minion to a university lab rat. Flexible working hours pretty much rocks!
However, leaving Malacca, where friendship and familiarity were built in 8 long years to start all over again in a new place is unnerving, to say the least. I have to say goodbye to the litter of kitten downstairs, to the flat I’ve stayed for the past year after I graduated, and to all the colleagues, subordinates and superiors of my previous workplace. No more Saturday morning breakfast followed by grocery shopping, no more Jonker Street and mamak supper at night and no more Batu Berendam chicken rice balls. I have to start new routines and find new places to eat here. It takes time. Afterall, change is the only constant in life. So is aging, but I don’t want to go into that now.
Aside from that, 2009 was very much a year that I can write off with contentment. Life is good to me, to my family and my friends, and I hope that 2010 can be a year full of blessings as well.
Happy New Year, babe!
:D
Anyways, let’s welcome 2010 with more hopes and dreams. I believe when you recapping 2009, it feels nice and accomplished and satisfied.
I’m still lagging behind. Hopefully 2010 is a fresh start for all of us!
SC-Yeah, Happy New Year and may it be a nice year ahead for all of us!
